I feel very comfortable in the effective communicator and the desire to improve own performance categories. I feel the most comfortable in these categories because I worked very well with both of my mentor teachers and fellow art teachers and I also made a commitment to improve as much as I could over the course of this experience.. I was able to collaborate with my mentor teachers and also take feedback from them. I maintained open communication with all of my students as well, despite being in a virtual setting. I kept notes on each student so that I could remember details about them for future conversations, showing that I care through very intentional conversation. Through my coaching conversations, set goals for myself and feel that I was very successful at achieving them over time. One area that I would like to focus on in the future is cultural responsiveness. Even though I meet the requirements for this disposition, I want to feel like I excel in this area. It is difficult for me to integrate these issues into my practice because I did grow up in a very white, privileged setting. I think this makes me uncomfortable, but recognizing this and seeking further education is the first step. I want to be better about intentionally addressing issues of class, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, language, and special needs in my classroom. I am responsive when students bring it up or when it fits into a lesson, but I need to make it a bigger part of my everyday practice. Therefore, my professional goal going forward is to be more intentional about starting cultural conversations in my classroom and creating more lesson plans that specifically integrate this. Overall, I am proud of my professionalism and excited about the possibilities in the areas where I can improve.
